A "whoa" day!

I slept in with Jack this morning, but still had time to feed him breakfast, fix myself some toast and coffee, watch the TODAY show, shower, and work out all before 10:30 a.m.!

WHOA!

I was able to wake Jack at 10:45 a.m., change his diaper, put on a new outfit, pack the diaper bag with his lunch, pack the car, and make it downtown for our lunch plans by 11:30 a.m.! WHOA!

My friend, Angie, and I enjoyed a nice Maid-Rite lunch in the downtown skywalks. It was very busy in the food mall, but we were able to eat our lunch, share the latest gossip, and give Jack a bottle. As we finished, Jack started getting a little fussy, so I picked him up from the stroller and sat him in my lap. Warning: don't read the rest if you have a weak stomach :) All of a sudden Jack's pacifier went shooting across the table, followed by the BIGGEST THROW-UP EXPLOSION I have ever witnessed. It just kept coming. Projectile type. It was the first time he has thrown-up and oh boy! Poor guy. He has had a runny nose, but otherwise showed no warning signs. I'm just glad he didn't projectile the stuff over the ledge onto the skywalkers below....

WHOA!

I walked through the skywalks and drove home covered from head-to-toe in throw-up. Jack was laughing and saying "Ba ba ba" by the time we made it to the car. He fell asleep before we exited the parking ramp. I changed all our clothes, started our 5th load of laundry since Monday -WHOA!, and put him down for a nap. He slept for 2 1/2 hours.

He woke to a nice warm bottle and then an hour later went down for another nap. 4:45 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. WHOA!

Then, we gave him a small bottle of Pedialyte, some play time with Daddy, followed by a warm bath and back asleep by 8:15 p.m. WHOA!

Hilarious

Jack woke up early from his afternoon nap, during mom's favorite back-to-back episodes of "Law & Order." Jack started looking and laughing at the TV everytime a character would talk to ADA JACK McCoy. Hilarious :)

Extended Visitation.

So Lindsey and I were talking the other day. We have been back as a family for like 2 weeks now (maybe 3, I've lost track), but we kind of feel like we are just here on an extended vacation. Now, I know... living at mom's is not exactly the same as enjoying a mojito on a beach in Mexico, but its not bad; living at home isn't the weird thing... (yet).

Its just that we don't have any of our stuff. We don't sleep in our bed, we don't cook* with our pans, we don't watch our TV (AND MY MOM DOES NOT HAVE A DVR!!!) - so we don't really feel like we live here yet. We basically feel like we are on a long vacation to Des Moines** We are still super excited and happy to be back though, so we got that going for us!

*Ok, you got me. That was a bald faced lie. I shoud have said, "We don't eat our Chipotle on our plates" Check that..."We don't eat our Chipotle on our own TV trays" (we wouldn't want to dirty our dishes).
**Where I get to go to work every (nice vacation). At least the weather has been nice.

In other news, we drove up to Webster City on Monday* to see Jaime and meet her new little boy, Brennan Patrick. Jack wasn't sure what to think about somebody litterally half his size (doesn't happen a lot). Anyway, it was really nice to see James and her family, but it made me feel really old - more and more of my high schools friends are having babies! Isn't that crazy? Shouldn't we be watching Tommy Boy or something? We are old!

*Federal gig is already paying off with a dayoff for Columbus day (a first for me) - yeah!

Jack's Reaction to Girls...

...he never changed his expression and she eventually lost interest :)

Problem Solving

This is where backwards crawling is getting us these days....We left him to figure out how to solve the problem. It soon became a disaster :)

Is this Heaven? No... it's Iowa...

We are officially residents of the State of Iowa* again. Our house in KC closed on Monday, so we are officially non-homeowners again for a couple of months. Presently we are watching the VP debates - and as you can imagine with 2 people who like to argue and are on opposite sides of the fence, it's a little frosty in the living room this evening. :) Everything else is going really well and we are really happy to be back "home."

*The HAWKEYE state

PS - Jack is huge! He may wrestle at 103 as a 1 year old at this rate.
