The collection you'll receive when....

...your Nana used to teach Second Grade. Thank you, Nana!

P.S. Jack was asleep while we organized all the books. I predict by 7:01 tomorrow morning, 60% of the books will be on the floor again.

P.S.S. I panicked when typing the above-sentence. Which word is correct "Use" or "Used"? Ms. Second-Grade teacher, help please!?!?!

And at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday....

...this is where (and how) you can find our son.

Come back soon, Pappy and Grandma!

We miss them already!

Celebrating Grandma Smith's Birthday

Pappy and Grandma made the trip from Oklahoma this past weekend and we celebrated my Grandmother's Birthday. We let Jack think the birthday song and cake was for him.

He was pleased, of course :)

Storytime with Big Bird

Thanks Uncle Kyle for giving J-man your Big Bird to borrow. He LOVES storytime with Big Bird.

(although, he refuses to sit much closer than he is in the picture. I cannot tell if he is frightened of talking Big Bird or if he just wants a better view of the yellow creature with orange legs :)

Family, Friends, Fun and FOOTBALL

MY team may not have been victorious on Saturday, but we had a fabulous, fun, family and friend-filled football weekend nonethless. (How do you like that alliteration, John?)

The morning began at 6:30 a.m., when we arrived at Grandpa Denny and Nana's house...as you can see, the early morning wake-up call for tailgating did not please the youngest member of our household :) He'll appreciate the necessity of a good tailgating spot soon enough.

By the time we left, Nana had fixed the J-bomb pancakes, thus, mom and dad were altogether forgotten and on their way to Ames.

By 8:00 a.m., we had found our tailgating spot, fired up the grill and found great friends to enjoy some microwave HORMEL bacon on the grill with ... :) And then, KICK-OFF

Following the semi-blowout, we toured good ol' Iowa State, including a stop at GAMMA PHI BETA, where we visited some of our favorite spots (Senior Apartment, Cold Airs and, of course, a picture in the front yard)

We picked Jack up around 5:30 p.m. to discover he had found LOTS of fun things during the day. Mom-friendly stuff like worms, dirt, frogs and had helped pick a plethora of tomatoes.

Good day, good friends....good times :)

Typical!

On Friday, I received a small bonus for "exemplary service" at work. By Sunday, when I returned home from Matt's bachelor party in Denver, to find that the kitchen had been torn apart and the bonus had been spent. Who would have done such a thing? The same person who decides to leave grout haze on a backsplash for well over 48 hours before trying to remove it. I will give you a hint, it was not a member of household whose name includes John Paul. For once, a home improvement disaster was not my fault!

As you can see, Linsdey elected to put up a backsplash in our kitchen. I would have liked to be involved in the decision making process, but I suppose my Beatles Rock Band idea wouldn't have flown anyway. Regardless, I do have to give Lindsey props for getting the tiles up and grouted without any help. Nice job, babe! As for the 2 consecutive nights rubbing my hands raw from scrubbing off hardened grout haze... I will forgive you... someday.*

*Maybe.

Also... some funny pictures of how Jack likes to roll when he sleeps.

You're Gonna Have a Fun-Filled Day

Don't be fooled....we think Jack had a good time at Adventureland. Yes, he never let go of that little basketball. And, yes, he refused to smile at any time other than when we shared a donut at the coffee shop (of course, no pictures of that. I was eating my quarter of the donut!) And, yes, he screamed when I sat him on a carousel horse so we rode in the not-so-fun carousel sleigh. But, c'mon...

LOOK at this last blurry picture!

It speaks for itself, doesn't it?

Fun ALL around!
